PEDICLE GRAFTS
A pedicle graft is performed right at the recession site and is a preferable method for patients who may have receding gums but have not yet lost a significant amount of soft tissue. Dr. Penhaskashi creates a flap right on the gum line, pulls the tissue over the roots, and sutures the tissue in place.
Note: In some situations, grafting material from a tissue bank may be used to perform a gum graft instead of relying on the patient’s own oral tissue.
Following a Gum Graft Procedure
Patients who have treatment for receding gums should expect to feel some tenderness after the grafting surgery. If a sedative is administered, a friend or family member will need to drive you home.
